Barack's views on issues
ON EDUCATION: Obama believes that preschool, after-school, and summer programs help children. He thinks students should learn more math and science. He wants to help every American be able to go to college.

ON HEALTH CARE: Obama thinks that all Americans should have health insurance, children most of all. He wants the government to creat a new health plan that everyone can afford.

McCain's views on issues
ON EDUCATION: McCain believes that schools should be able to compete to attract the best teachers. He also believes that parents should be able to send their children to a different school if thet want to. He wants the government in Washington to have less control of education money and that is good for students who don't have los of money for college.

ON HEALTH CARE: McCain does not belives that people should have to have health insurance. He wants to lower taxes for people who busy their own health insurance.

Meet John McCain (Republican Candidate for President)

John McCain was born in 1963 at a U.S. naval base in the Panama Canal Zone, Central America. His father was a U.S. naval officer. John's family moved a lot before settling in Virginia. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy, in Maryland, in 1958. John attended flight school in Florida and graduated in 1960. He flew planes for the U.S. Navy, and later represented the U.S. Navy to the U.S. Senate. He retired from the Navy in 1981. He earned seventeen military honors during his years of service. After retiring, John and his wife Cindy moved to Phoenix, Arizona. His job there helped him start his career in politics. He was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1982 and re-elected in 1984. John was then elected to the U.S. Senate by a landslide in 1986. He has been a U.S senator ever since that year.

John McCain's military plane was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967. Both arms and a leg were broken. He parachuted into a lake, where he almost drowned before being attecked by enemy soldiers. He was a prisoner of war for over five years. He was released in 1973.

Meet John McCain's family
John McCain was married to his first wife Carol for fifteen years. He adopted her two young sons, and together they had a daughter. After their divorce, McCain married Cindy Hensley. Now Cindy McCain is in charge of a large beer business that her father started. From 1988 to 1995, she ran a company that sent medical help to parts of the world with emergencies. Since then, she has worked with other companies that help people around the world. Together, John and Cindy have four children.

Meet Sarah Palin (Republican Candidate for Vice President)
Sarah Palin has been the governor of Alaska since 2006. Before that, she was the mayor of a city near Anchorage. She also has worked for a government agency that is in charge of oil and gas production in Alaska.

Meet Barack Obama (Democratic Candidate for President)

Barack Obama was born in 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. His mother was from Kansas, and his father was from Kenya, East Africa. His parents divorced when he was four. Barack's mother later married an Indonesian man, and the family moved to Indonesia. At the age of ten, Barack moved back to Honolulu to go to better schools. Barack moved to Chicago after graduating college in 1983. He later decided to get involved in politics. He thought that changing laws could help people.In 1996, Barack was elected to the Illinois State Senate. He served for six years. In 2004, Barack was elected to the U.S. Senate by a landslide. Four years later, he became the first African American in U.S. history to be the presidential candidate of a major political party.

Meet Barack Obama's family
Barack Obama is married to Michelle Robinson Obama. Michelle is a lawyer from Chicago. Barack and Michelle met while they both worked for a Chicago law company.

For three years, Obama was in charge of a Chicago organization that helped poor African American who had lost their jobs. The organization also set up a tutoring program for young people in poor neighborhoods. Michelle used to work for Chicago's city government. Then she worked for organizations that helped get young people involved in making the world a better place. Since 2002, she has held important jobs at the University of Chicago Hospitals.

The Obamas have two daughters, the older one named Malia (10 years old), the younger one named Sasha (7 years old).

Meet Joe Biden (Democratic Party for Vice President)
Joe Biden has been a U.S. senator since 1972. He is an expert on how to work with the governments of other countries. He has worked to stop terrorism and crime. He has also worked to help women and working families.

Compare the Candidates on the Issues

On the Presidential election campaign, both candidates John McCain and Barack Obama debate on the issues like abortion, Iraqi war, education, energy, health care... I'd like to talk about the current war issue in Iraq and this is a serious issue. Obama always opposes the current war in Iraq and believes that war is just a terrible mistake. I like his idea that he said "would take troops out of Iraq within one and half years if he is elected to be the president". In addition, he would also help training the Iraqi soldiers and solving problems in Iraq like economic issue et cetera.

Candidate McCain's idea on this issue is totally opposite with Obama's idea. I dislike/disagree with his idea since he always supports the Iraqi war and he tries to recruit soldiers and sent them over that country. And he has an unclear time to withdraw American soldiers from Iraq. He estimates the time to remove the American soldiers in 2013, which is five years later from now. As you know, there will be more innocent Iraqi people and soldiers die or maybe cause even more conflicts between both countries within that five years. I am in favor of Obama's idea on this issue, which is take troops out of Iraq immediately, and i believe that would be a better solution to solve the conflict between these two countries and it would be the first step to reduce the enmity of Iraqi people towards American.

Another issue that really attracts me is the Energy. I'm kind of moderate with both candidates' perspectives on this issue. McCain's idea is to expand nuclear power by creating 45-100 nuclear power plants in the U.S. and asks for government's support for the reason of a clean resource. On this issue Obama thinks explore more nuclear energy isn't a great option and has to take it into consideration with nuclear power's storage and people's safety. [Nuclear power is a clean resource but it is nonrenewable and dangerous. McCain says to build up minimum 45 nuclear power plants, which will cost a large amount of money and need a big subsidy from the government while we are in the economic crisis situation.]

Barack's BIO: A Mother's Promise

This is an amazing ad that I found in the Youtube. You guys should watch it because it is really worthy. This ad gives me a sense of what Barack Obama childhood was like, people around him had influences in his early childhood. His mother, father and grandparents, especially his mother, who had made a promise to him, and Obama attempts to keep for life. Through the years, Obama met his girl--michelle and developes compatible relationship with his family. He transmits the values that he inherited to the next generation: hard work, honesty, respect for other people, faith...

Palin VS. Biden (Topic: environment)

On the vice presidential debate, both vice president nominees have good perspective on the environment issue—the causes of climate change. Governor Palin makes a very good point for what she believes that energy should be independent for the impact of climate change. She said we need to clean up this planet and encourage other country to come along with us to deal with climate change impact. She believes if we rely more and more on other countries, they don’t care as much as we care about climate change. We should be considering fuel, considering petroleum product and hydrocarbon so we can clean up our plant and deal with climate change.

Senator Joe Biden thinks the cause of climate change is totally man made. He believes by investing clean coal technology, save nuclear energy and also export technology to countries like China, has built 1-3 new coal fire plant and burns dirty coal per week, is not only polluting atmosphere but also the west code of America. One thing I don’t like Joe Biden is that he keeps pointing at John MaCain for voting 23 times in the last decades of half against funding the alternative energy sources, clean energy sources, wind, solar, biofuel…Because on the debate, the thing matters is how will you able to deal with the climate change, come up with some solutions, but he keeps pointing at John’s voting which was already happended in the last couple of decades on the alternative energy. This is not very important anymore to bring up on the issue of climate change.

Science Journal (Obama&MaCain--energy)

Energy is the essential in our daily life and it has been used in so many fields. It is a broad topic to cover since there are so many types of energies, for instance: nuclear, wind, solar, hydropower energy and so forth. In 2008 presidential election, energy is one of the biggest issues on the debates. Both Democratic presidential candidate and Republican presidential candidate Barack Obama anf John McCain have covered up on the energy issue and shared their opinions.

Candidate McCain is in favor of tapping into more domestic sources of energy to the hungry market, increasing the uses of green natural gas and drilling. He also talks about how to clean up our climate by developing green technologies and alternative energies for hybrid, hydrogen and batter-powered cars. It is a good solution to reduce the air pollution that creates global warming and creates millions of jobs simultaneously.

Candidate Obama believes the idea of making an investment in solar, wind and geothermal. Those all are renewable and unlimited sources and those sources are super clean. Obama doesn't support one of John's ideas--drilling. Senator Obama thinks America doesn't have much its own oil and it only has three percent of world oil reserves, but Ameican needs to use 25 percent of world oil. Obama believes drilling isn't a long-term plan. In addition, Obama doesn't believe the idea of nuclear power is the only solution to deal with environmental crisis. In 21 century, it is a good thing to have nuclear power as one of sources, which is clean and advanced, but it is extremely dangerous. What happen if there is an accident occures? That's the main reason Obama doesn't support it much and trys to come up with a better solution.

Both senators have good perspective on the energy issue. My opinion on energy is i am strongly agree with part of John's ideas by developing green technologies and part of Obama's ideas make an investment in renewable sources. Since those investments are reliable and have less waste. I agree with both senators as long as their plans benefit people, benefit natural environment and so forth.
